The Space Operations Summit (SoS) aims to bring together government, defense, and industry space professionals, policy makers, researchers, educators, and students to share and discover what’s happening across this domain.
Space operations are becoming increasingly complex and challenging as more actors and activities enter the domain.
SoS will feature keynote speakers, panel discussions, technical sessions, and networking opportunities on groundbreaking topics. The summit will also showcase the latest developments and achievements in space technology, applications, and services.
The Space Operations Summit will provide a platform for exchanging ideas, insights, and best practices for advancing space operations and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the space environment.
Discuss key drivers of space operations:
Learn, network, and engage in conversation about current space opportunities and challenges.
Owners, C-Level, VP-Level, Engineers, Legal, R&D, Patent/Small Business Attorneys, Finance & Venture Capital
Gain access to top-tier federal partners and insight into technology transfer, autonomy, and space-aligned SBIR programs.
Connect with officials from DoD, DOE, NSF, and other agencies seeking innovators and dual-use collaborators. If you think all the opportunities are in Texas and California — think again. Grand Forks is a growing hub for space innovation.
Presidents, Chancellors, VPRs, Tech Transfer Officers, Researchers
Explore federal funding pipelines, network with mission-aligned agencies, and connect with entrepreneurs and startups ready to collaborate. From CHIPS Act partnerships to federal grant access, SOS is a launchpad for institutions looking to plug into the national space and tech economy.
Federal, State & Local Policymakers, Program Officers, Incentive Managers, Economic Development Professionals
Meet the engineers, entrepreneurs, and researchers shaping North Dakota’s space future. Learn how to drive economic growth while fulfilling Congressional mandates.
UND and its innovation partners are creating a nationally relevant ecosystem and government agencies are invited to engage directly with on-the-ground change-makers.

This talk examines space operations as a discipline – what it means to operate effectively in today’s contested, congested, and competitive space domain. Drawing on real-world operational experience, the discussion explores the human, procedural, and technical attributes that define successful space operators, how space ops differ from legacy domains, and what emerging trends mean for operators on console and commanders making decisions.

Pizza with Former NASA Astronaut Rex Walheim
Ever wondered what it’s really like to live and work in space? Join us for lunch and hear firsthand stories from former NASA astronaut Rex Walheim, as he takes us beyond the classroom and into the cosmos.
Hear about his experiences traveling to space, life aboard the International Space Station (ISS), the challenges of working in orbit, and the unforgettable moments that come with being an astronaut.
And that’s not all—stick around for an interactive Q&A session at the end, where you’ll have the chance to ask Rex your questions about space, NASA, exploration, and life beyond Earth.

We are living in a 'golden age' of human spaceflight, with the rise of commercial human spaceflight and exploration-class missions heralding novel opportunities and challenges. On the one hand, commercial spaceflight is increasing access for a new demographic of medically diverse humans who may have been previously disqualified from spaceflight, while also allowing us to understand the behavior of previously understudied disease states in the spaceflight environment. Simultaneously, exploration-class missions to the Moon, Mars and beyond will necessitate a new model of space-based healthcare with decreased reliance on Earth and a shift to Earth-independent medical operations. In this talk, Dr. Shawna Pandya highlights emerging challenges and opportunities in the current era of human spaceflight, including the emerging technologies and unique properties of the spaceflight that can enable a successful future of humanity in space.
